Personal data storage: We may collect and store your personal data in our databases and on our systems. This includes storage on our own infrastructure and with our service providers (e.g. Supabase, Vercel) as described in this policy. By using the Service, you acknowledge and consent to this storage of your personal data.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information to provide and improve our Service:

• Account Information: When you sign up, we collect your email address for authentication via Supabase. We store your email and a count of resumes created.
• Usage Data: We may automatically collect technical data about how you interact with our Service (e.g., IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited) to analyze trends and improve usability.
• Uploaded Content: You provide job application details and resume content for processing. This content is sent to OpenAI's API for resume and cover letter generation. We also store your uploaded resumes and extracted profile data (for example: name, phone, address, links, skills, qualifications, work history, and a short profile summary) so you can reuse them in your account.
• Payment Information: If you purchase credits, payments are processed by Stripe. We do not collect or store your full payment card details. Stripe handles this information according to its privacy policy.
• Communications: If you contact us, we may keep a record of that correspondence.

The personal data described above may be stored in our databases and on our systems, including infrastructure operated by our service providers (such as Supabase for authentication and data storage, Vercel for hosting). We retain and process this data as necessary to provide the Service, as set out in Section 6 (Data Retention).

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information collected for the following purposes:

• To provide, maintain, and improve the Service.
• To manage your account and process transactions.
• To send essential service-related communications (e.g., account verification, technical notices). We will only send marketing communications if you opt-in.
• To monitor for security threats and prevent fraudulent activity.
• To comply with legal obligations.
• To analyze usage patterns for service enhancement (typically using aggregated or anonymized data).

3. Information Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information only in the following limited circumstances:

• With Service Providers:
  • Vercel: Used for hosting the website/application on their servers.
  • OpenAI: Uploaded resume/job content is sent to OpenAI's API for processing under their terms and data processing agreement.
  • Supabase: Used for authentication and storing email/resume count.
  • Stripe: Used for processing payments.
  • Resend: Used for sending email notifications.
  • Google Analytics: Used for analyzing website traffic and usage patterns.

  These providers are contractually bound to protect your data and use it only for the services they provide to us.

• Legal Requirements: If required by law, subpoena, or other legal process, or if we have a good faith belief that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request.
• Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred. We will notify you if your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

4. Data Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information (e.g., encryption in transit using TLS, access controls). However, no internet transmission or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

5. Your Choices and Rights

You have rights regarding your personal information:

• Access and Correction: You may request access to or correction of your personal information held by us.
• Deletion: You can request the deletion of your saved resumes, cover letters, and extracted profile data directly in Settings using the "Delete all saved data" option. Account and billing/transaction records may be retained where required by law.
• Opt-Out: You can opt-out of non-essential communications via unsubscribe links or by contacting us.
• Account Closure: Contact support@customisedresume.com to close your account.
• Users in certain jurisdictions (like the EEA/UK under GDPR or California under CCPA) may have additional rights like data portability or the right to object to certain processing. Please contact us to exercise these rights.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account information (email, resume count) for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service and comply with legal obligations. Usage data may be retained in an aggregated or anonymized form for longer periods. Uploaded resumes, generated cover letters, and extracted profile data are retained until you delete them in Settings or close your account.

7. International Data Transfer

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own, including the United States, where our service providers (like OpenAI) operate. We rely on appropriate safeguards (e.g., Standard Contractual Clauses) for such transfers where required by law (e.g., for transfers from the EEA/UK).

8. Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected such information, we will take steps to delete it.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the new policy on our website or via email. Your continued use of the Service after changes signifies your acceptance.
